apostolos mintzis

We all have great stories to tell and they are in high demand during our times.

Apostolos (my first name) is Greek for the one who is sent away, a messenger, an ambassador. Interestingly my name is contradicting my introverted nature which led me to embrace the internet as a medium to fulfill my mission...

I believe we all come on this planet with a purpose: to use our unique skills and talents toward making it a better place for the generations to come. Whether it will be through our day job, our volunteer time, our hobbies or our social interactions with friends, there are abundant opportunities to leave our mark, plant seeds and get more people who share the same values onboard. Although I am sensitive to the majority of social issues I usually find myself more involved with organizations pushing the climate change/sustainability, LGBTQIA human rights and ending HIV/AIDS and Alzheimer’s agendas.

My 30 years of professional career have been full of success stories, mistakes, learnings, relationships built on trust, a few regrets and lots of hard work. I navigated all with integrity, honesty, and respect, which are the non-negotiable qualities/values in everything I do.

I am the product of a traditional Greek urban middle-class family of merchants. Growing up in our retail store I had responsibilities from early on, and was taught to be flexible and provide help wherever help was needed. The tasks ranging from floor sweeping to bookkeeping and everything in-between, I learned how to be a good salesman from my mother and how to be wise with money from my father.

Traveling around the world, along with living and studying in different cities in Europe, made me eclectic, open-minded and respectful of our planet and all the different species on it. Humans, design, fashion, music and their respective local versions still excite me in every place I go. I'm a keen observer of why and how things work the way they do.

Apart from my entrepreneurial years working alongside my parents and being their successor in the family business, I have also worked as :

  • Digital Marketing Consultant for various small businesses and non-profit organizations with limited resources in New York and in Greece

  • Crew Member at Trader Joe’s

  • Marketing Manager at Mercedes-Benz A. Ismailos SA

  • Senior Research Executive / Key Account Manager at Millward Brown RI Hellas

  • Social Media & Communications Manager for Rooster and The apartment

  • WebRadio Producer for m-word radio

  • Resident DJ at Rooster and The apartment

My passion for learning is ongoing as I truly believe it's keeping my mind in shape, the way I like to keep my body too. The Greek philosopher Solon said "Γηράσκω αεί διαδασκόμενος" = I will keep learning for as long as I live. So far, along with the occasional certifications on digital marketing specifics like Google Ads, Analytics and HubSpot's Inbound and Email marketing, my education can be summarized as follows:

  • Columbia Business School | Digital Marketing Strategy I & II Certificate -Executive Education Program

  • NTUA Medialab | HTML & Web Design Certificate for Adobe Dreamweaver

  • SAE-Creative Media Education | DJ Mixing & Music Production Basics Certificate

  • University of Stirling | Master’s degree in Marketing

  • University of Piraeus | Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration
